In Spring 2019, China passed a new Foreign Investment Law (FIL), thereby granting foreign-invested enterprises and local companies equal treatment in the market. The Foreign Investment Law came into effect on 1st January 2020 and replaced the foreign investment regime referred to as the “Three Laws on Foreign Capital”. The new Foreign Investment Law, that should be considered as a framework guiding future foreign investment legislation, addresses some of the biggest challenges facing foreign investors: intellectual property rights, forced technology transfers and equal treatment in government procurement between local and foreign enterprises.

China’s corporate social system has been a hot topic for media all over the world. This summer, the city council of Munich came with its recommendations on the Munich coal exit. Leading up to these recommendations, the Alliance “Exiting Coal based Heat & Energy”, which consists of 70 organizations, published its position paper with demands and background for the recommendations.

To tackle current urban challenges, the City of Munich has set up a range of Living Labs, where smart city solutions are being tested. This development is expected to generate a booming marked for different city actors to work together and co-create smart city solutions to increase quality of life in Munich.
