Build Back Greener – Green Recovery Strategies for the Building Sector
As part of US Climate Action Week 2021, ROCKWOOL International and Danish Cleantech Hub is opening the virtual doors for the event ‘Build Back Greener – Green Recovery Strategies for the Building Sector’.
The buildings and construction sector is highly energy-demanding and carbon-intensive, accounting for 39 percent of global energy-related CO2 emissions and it must be emphasized, that it already makes business sense to build green. Green buildings have a lower operational cost than traditional ones and their asset value is around 10% higher. Yet, to fully decarbonize the built environment as a system, we need to make sure that all players along the value chain collaborate and focus on the reduction of emissions and creating green jobs and economic growth.
The climate change movement in the built environment has gained serious momentum in recent years. Spearheaded by government and the private sector, more and more stakeholders are signing up to set and help meet energy and climate targets across the buildings sector. The construction sector can pave the way for a green economic recovery and provide the boost we need to jump-start the economy in the aftermath of COVID-19.
During the event and with the Leader’s Summit on Climate as the backdrop, American and Danish experts across the building sector will discuss best in class recovery strategies on how to leverage building retrofits and public-private partnerships to support economic development and innovation while creating green jobs, focusing on the ambitious goals already set by New York State and New York City.
