On September 22th 2020, NYSERDA, State of Green and Danish Cleantech Hub hosted this year’s largest transatlantic event as part of Climate Week NYC to explore American-Danish synergies in the green recovery. The message was clear, a climate crisis and a potential economic downturn require nations, states and cities to rethink their approaches to major global challenges and partner up with the private sector.

Yesterday, the Danish Cleantech Hub in New York and Gate21 launched the NYC Smart Lighting Challenge at the smart city conference Nordic Edge Expo. The challenge is part of the Access Cities project and the two organizations now invite Danish SMEs in to help solve the challenge through a solution workshop day and a pitch finale.

Danish Cleantech Hub and Gate21 are seeking NYC based actors, who are interested in innovative smart city solutions related to smart lighting. Challenge owners can be public agencies, building owners or developers, architects, engineering business, management companies etc. Essentially anyone involved in designing, suppling, developing or managing smart city technologies across the City.

Participation in the Access Cities Open Innovation Call in September 2019 has opened new doors to the US market for NOVENCO Building & Industry, a leading Danish manufacturer of highly efficient ventilation fans and systems. Today, NOVENCO is in dialogue with two City Agencies in New York City to discuss how their highly efficient products can be used in public buildings across town.
