New ways to export

New ways to export

The project is a co-operation between Dansk Industri, State of Green and Syddansk Universitet. It is managed by the Danish Cleantech Hub (DCH) platforms in New York and Shanghai, respectively. DCH is a public-private initiative launched by DI and State of Green and supported by a number of public stakeholders, including the Municipality of Copenhagen.

Both of the New Ways to Export target markets have significant unexploited business potential within green technology in general, and within four business segments in particular:

Energy efficiency in buildings
Urban climate adaptation
Urban water management
Green infrastructure including ICT and smart mobility
New York’s administration plans to spend more than USD 266 billion on city development over the next ten years – with a large portion reserved for sustainability investments. Within water and energy alone, investments are expected to reach about USD 40 billion, while USD 28 billion have been earmarked for climate adaptation.

In China, the government’s new ambitions for CO2 neutrality by 2030 will be achieved by allocating at least DKK 300 billion for green investments. Growing problems related to urban pollution, water scarcity and low energy efficiency in buildings is pushing the green agenda forward in China’s cities. Shanghai is China’s economic center and sets the precedent for other cities when it comes to urban development.

What do SME’s get from participating?

Clear and updated knowledge on export opportunities to New York and Shanghai within specific green technologies.
Targeted contacts. The two DCH platforms organize individual meetings with relevant public and private partners such as political decision-makers, urban planning commissions, urban research institutes, public procurement departments, utilities, property developers, architects, media, key opinion makers, NGOs, etc.
Targeted activities. The two DCH platforms organize seminars, workshops, exhibitions, conferences and roundtable discussions with relevant stakeholders in selected green sectors. Most activities are held in connection with signature events to ensure proliferation and synergy.
Individual advice about business and engagement strategy.
Co-branding of the ‘Danish Green Model’ towards relevant stakeholders.
Access to office and meeting facilities in the DCH facilities in New York City and Shanghai.
The New Ways to Export project will run for two years, starting February 2016.
