Today, the Royal House of Denmark announced the list of patronages for the Royal Family including His Majesty King Frederik X of Denmark. At State of Green we have eagerly awaited the announcement, and to our great joy His Majesty has decided to continue his patronage of State of Green, a public-private, not-for-profit partnership for the next five years, a post he has served since 2008.

“We are grateful and deeply honoured to welcome back His Majesty King Frederik X as a patron of State of Green. Ever since beginning our journey 16 years ago, His Majesty – when he was Crown Prince – has joined us for various events, most recently at the Danish Pavilion at the U.N. Climate Conference, COP28 in Dubai in December 2023. We are looking forward to five more years of close collaboration with His Majesty in our efforts to showcase Danish green solutions and strengthening ties across industries worldwide,” says Finn Mortensen, Executive Director at State of Green.

Besides State of Green, The King continues several other patronages, including as a patron of The Copenhagen Climate Ministerial expanding his involvement in the green agenda further.

“Throughout the centuries, The Royal House of Denmark’s patronages have supported the important work of non-profit organisations in Denmark, the Realm and beyond. It is a tradition we are very proud to continue, and one which we, as a family, hope to further strengthen and develop.
Through our royal patronages, we wish to support efforts which promote Danish culture, science and enterprise, protect our nature, and give a voice for the marginalized and vulnerable in our society. This longstanding tradition serves to bring us together in small and large communities”, state The King and The Queen.

16 years and counting of promoting the green transition

On January 14, HM Queen Margrethe II abdicated from the throne, passing it on to HM King Frederik X. This historic day also nullified all patronships for the Royal Family.

From 2008 until his accession to the throne, His Majesty King Frederik X served as the patron of State of Green, supporting the promotion of green technology and solutions to drive the green transition globally. In that capacity, His Majesty joined us on various occasions, including the opening of House of Green, for various international visits, and most recently at the Danish Pavilion at COP28 in Dubai in December 2023.

With the renewal of the patronage, we look forward to continuing our collaboration and partnership with His Majesty in our shared journey towards building a greener and more sustainable future together.
