Countdown to 2030: Green jobs and renewable energy – low carbon, high employment

As countries around the world set new temperature records in scorching heat waves this summer, the World Meteorological Organization warned that this is the new normal. It is becoming increasingly clear, that the climate crisis is no longer a future problem and reducing our greenhouse gas emissions by accelerating the energy transition is more urgent than ever.

The good news is that there is an enormous potential to expand renewable energy, especially offshore wind energy. This will not only create millions of jobs, but also power the production of green hydrogen, which will be key to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors such as heavy industry and transport.

The Citizen Sustainability Summit Climate Session will highlight these three aspects of the energy transition – green jobs, offshore wind and green hydrogen – to demonstrate the potential in decarbonizing our economies and societies and inspire action.
